"Circus Mojo" is an episode of The Fresh Beat Band from the second season. This episode is in iTunes - Circus. Characters Present[]Summary[]The circus is in town. Reed is working at the circus, and tells the Fresh Beats that they are short-handed. The Fresh Beats help put up the tent for the circus. Reed mentions that they are short on acts, so they may have to cancel the circus. Knowing that a cancellation would disappoint the Junior Beats, the Fresh Beat Band volunteers to do the circus acts themselves. However, they only have a short amount of time to practice before the tent flap opens. Plot[]The episode begins with the Fresh Beats and the Junior Beats hanging out together outside of the Fresh Beats' apartment. There is calliope music playing in the distance, which Marina hears and excitedly asks the others if they hear the music too. The Fresh Beats and Junior Beats look around to see where that music is coming from, and they see a man walking on stilts along with circus performers and a man playing a calliope. Shout then explains to the viewer that the calliope is an instrument played to let people know that the circus is there. Twist expressed his excitement about the arrival of the circus and juggled some circus balls while scatting some calliope music. Kiki states that she loves the circus with all of its animals and clowns, and Shout adds on, saying how he loves the acrobats and does a flip in the air. The Fresh Beats and Junior Beats excitedly headed off to the circus. When the Fresh Beats and Juniors got to the circus, Shout noticed the calliope again and explained that the calliope is played like a piano. The calliope player allowed Shout to play the instrument, and Shout explained that the calliope's sound comes from the steam blowing through the whistle pipes. Junior Twist sees a dog nearby, prompting the other Junior Beats to go over to pet the dog with him. The Fresh Beats look around the area of the circus venue and notice lots of the acts, such as the contortionist, tumblers, and the circus dog. Kiki and Marina then wonder where the rest of the circus acts are. Reed then comes in and tells the Fresh Beats that one of the circus buses broke down with the rest of the performers on it, meaning that there are not enough people to put on the circus. Reed also adds that there aren't enough people to set up the tents and booths. The other Fresh Beats express their shock and disappointment for the misfortune, and Marina, Kiki, and Twist add on how everyone will be disappointed if there's no circus show. The Fresh Beats want to do something to save the circus, and Twist thinks of an idea. Twist asks if it would be cool if they went to the circus store, got a circus in a box, and had it delivered to them super fast. He then adds that once they opened the circus in a box, a whole circus would pop out of it with lots of circus-related things such as animals, clowns, and snacks. Marina thought that Twist's idea was cool, but she gave a simpler idea of her own, which was to help set up the circus. Instead of Twist saying that Marina's idea was "the easy way," he actually thought it would be really cool for them to set up the circus. Kiki explains to the viewer how they all have never set up a circus before, and Marina optimistically tells the Fresh Beats that they can set up the circus, especially if they believe they can. Because of Marina's optimism, it prompted the other Fresh Beats, with excitement, to help set up the circus. As the Fresh Beats are setting up the circus, they sing an extended rendition of the song "Get Up And Go Go." When the Fresh Beats finished building the circus, they were very proud of the work they'd done. Kiki was wondering about what else they could do to help set up the circus, so Twist and Shout volunteered to help set up the cotton condy machine because they are "cotton candy experts." When Twist and Shout went over to the cotton candy machine, they got blueberry-flavored cotton candy on their hair. Kiki and Marina start to clean up some confetti, and while they are cleaning, they are impressed by the man on stilts doing dances and tricks. The man's hat falls off his head, and Kiki tosses it back to him. Kiki and Marina finished cleaning up the confetti and put it all in a trash can. Then, a big ball that Twist was playing with made the trash can collapse, along with some of the confetti. Because Twist made the confetti fall, he offered to clean it up. Kiki and Marina gave Twist brooms and dustpans to help him clean up the mess, though it didn't seem like he knew how to use them. The Fresh Beats then set up more equipment for the circus, like a swing, flying silks, and a spinning hoop. Marina spun around on the hoop and ended up hanging upside down, saying how the world looks cool from that view. Reed enters the circus in a clown costume and compliments the Fresh Beats' great work. Twist notices Reed's clown shoes, and Reed tells him that he is going to be a clown for the circus. Reed tells Shout to smell his flower, but Twist warns Shout that that is usually a trick, referring to how water spits out of a clown's flower. So, Reed and Shout do a trick on Twist. Shout smells Reed's flower, and Shout says that it smells nice. Twist was confused because usually water comes out of clowns' flowers, so he went to see Reed's flower just to make sure, but then ended up getting squirted in the face with water. Reed then explains to the Fresh Beats that he is also going to be the popcorn maker, ticket taker, and corn-on-the-stick guy. Marina asks Reed why he is doing so many jobs, and he explains that there are not enough people to do all of that stuff and goes on to say how there aren't enough acrobats to use the circus equipment, so they can just take it all down. Marina didn't want to disappoint anyone looking forward to the circus and assertively said that since they set up the circus, she and the other Fresh Beats would help put it on. So, the Fresh Beats try to practice performing with the circus equipment but struggle to work with it successfully. Shout doubtedly asked Marina if she was sure they could actually perform in the circus, and Marina optimistically said that of course they can. Twist and Shout didn't know what types of tricks they could do on the flying silks, so they just wrapped the silks on them, but of course, those weren't tricks. Shout explained to Twist that they needed to hold on to the silks and fly through the air. Shout did hang on the silks, but instead of flying, he was just hanging on the ground. Twist then had the idea that if they wanted to fly like birds, they had to think like birds. So Twist wrapped the flying silk around himself and made chicken noises, but he flailed in the air and lost his balance. Kiki is also having trouble on the swing, and Marina is having trouble on the hoop. Marina then adds that it's okay that they're all struggling with the circus equipment because it's their first time using it. She then adds that the Fresh Beats always put on a good show. Reed then urges the Fresh Beats about the calliope music playing, meaning that the circus is going to start soon. The Fresh Beats worry about not having enough time to practice, so they have to try their best in so little time. Shout tries to fly using the flying silks, and he actually flew in the air successfully. Kiki gets stuck on the swing, and the other Fresh Beats, along with Reed, help her get out. Marina then agrees that they all need help with their circus tricks, which leads Kiki to say that friends give friends a hand, which causes the Fresh Beats to sing the appropriately named song while practicing their circus tricks. The Fresh Beats finished practicing their circus acts, and they felt very prepared to perform. Reed excitedly came over to the Fresh Beats and asked if they were ready to perform, which they were. Reed then explains that the circus needs a ringmaster, and the other Fresh Beats say that Marina should be the ringmaster because she has been leading them all day. Kiki also tells Marina that ringmasters always wear a special hat, so Reed goes to get a bag of hats to find one. As he is about to find a hat for Marina, Reed calls himself Reed the Magnificent, implying that he is a magician. Twist didn't comprehend the fact that Reed was talking about himself, and Marina visually tells Twist that Reed was talking about himself. Reed does a magic trick with his wand to find a ringmaster hat for Marina, but instead pulls a pirate hat out of his bag. Marina puts on the pirate hat and starts to sound like a pirate, so the hat wasn't right for her. Reed then uses his magic and pulls out a cowgirl hat, which Marina puts on and starts to act like a cowgirl. The cowgirl hat wasn't right for Marina, and Reed uses his magic again and pulls out a football helmet. Marina put on the football helmet, yelled "Touchdown!" and chest-bumps Twist. The football helmet wasn't right for Marina either, so Reed uses his magic again and pulls out a baby headpiece, which Marina puts on and starts crying. Marina gives back the baby headpiece to Reed and says to him, "Definitely not this one." Reed goes away to find the correct hat for Marina, and Twist wishes him good luck. The calliope music starts to play again, and the audience members are ready for the circus to start. Marina worries about her not having a ringmaster hat, so Twist tries to think of a "Wouldn't it be cool if?" idea, but Kiki tells him not to do it. After many tries, Reed finally found a ringmaster hat for Marina, so everyone was officially ready to start the show. Marina the Ringmaster was about to start the circus show but was a little bit nervous doing so. She started her introduction by saying "ladies and jellyfish" and "boys and squirrels," which of course didn't come out right. Twist, Kiki, Shout, and Reed encourage Marina to keep speaking even though she messed up. Because of the encouragement she was given, Marina confidently introduced the circus performance. As the Fresh Beats did the show with the other circus performers, they sang the song "You Got It." Everyone enjoyed the circus performance, and the Fresh Beats had fun performing. Shout adds that all of the practicing they've done has paid off. Marina also adds that she knew they had it in them; they had to just believe themselves. The Fresh Beats conclude the episode by singing "Great Day" in the circus tent. Songs[]Trivia[]
