Episode Information

"Quack Shoes" is an episode of The Fresh Beat Band from the first season.

Characters Present[]

Summary[]

It's Tap Dance Day at Music School. Shout is excited, and practices his tap dancing skills on the way to class. However, he gets a little too into the dancing. Shout winds up kicking his shoes off his feet, and they land in a tree. Shout needs shoes to tap in, so Marina loans him her duck slippers.

Plot[]

Marina is sound asleep in her room. She has duck slippers on, which when combined produce a duck quacking sound, which she misinterprets as a real duck in her room. She gets up and finds that the quacking noise she heard was actually the sound of her duck slippers. When Kiki phones her, she says she's outside practicing her tap dancing moves. Marina remembers that it's Tap Dance Day at Music School, so she hangs up with Kiki on the phone and rushes out of her room, completely forgetting that she's still in her pajamas. She eventually realized it got and dressed.

Meanwhile, outdoors, Kiki and Shout watch Twist doing tap dance moves with his hands. Marina came outside the apartment, oblivious to the fact that she was still wearing her duck slippers. Marina noticed she was still wearing her slippers and removed them, with her tap shoes on underneath. The Fresh Beats performed a shortened version of "Let's Dance Everyone" when she removed her slippers.

The Fresh Beats went to the park after singing the song to practice their tap dancing moves. Twist was the first to begin dancing, and Marina played a beat on her drumsticks as he did so. He began to move crazily around the lamppost. Shout began to dance around the park next, but his tap shoes became stuck in a palm tree while he was dancing. Twist believed they could get Shout's shoes down by huffing, puffing, and blowing them down, but it didn't work. The Fresh Beats tried more feasible approaches to get Shout's shoes down while singing "Friends Give Friends A Hand." They tried everything from using a lasso to sitting on each other's shoulders to shaking the tree down, but none of them worked. Twist even had a ladder, but it wasn't long enough to get the shoes down.

Reed arrives after the song ended, and the Fresh Beats explain that Shout's shoes got stuck in the tree when he was tap dancing. Reed said he'll find a way to get Shout's shoes down from the tree because the Fresh Beats had to go to school shortly. In the event that Reed fails to get Shout's shoes down in time, Shout suggests that he dance in his socks. When he tried to dance in his socks, Twist, Kiki, and Marina explained that tap dancing requires your shoes to make a sound with your feet, otherwise you won't be able to hear the rhythm. As a result, Shout dances in his socks once more. Only this time, he said the word "tap" every time he tapped his toes. But it didn't work because saying "tap" over and over would be difficult for him to do as he danced quicker.

Twist advises that Shout dance with trash can lids strapped to his feet because saying "tap" multiple times won't work. He put the lids on his feet, but that caused Shout to fall over and run about the park erratically. Twist then gets the bright idea to go out and get some flip-flops with little cymbals on them, so that when Shout taps his toes, he can hear a sound. Marina believes it's a cool idea. She does, however, recommend that they find some shoes they currently own that create a sound when Shout dances.

Twist, Kiki, and Shout arrive at Music School, and Marina is busy finding Shout some dance shoes. Ms. Piccolo walks in and discovers that Shout is only wearing socks, and she tells him that he can't tap dance in his socks since there is no rhythm if he tap danced in them. Marina, thankfully, arrives with the perfect shoes for Shout to dance in: her duck slippers. Even though they're slippers, they're still shoes with a sound, and Shout can dance in them very well. The Fresh Beats take the stage and perform "Tap It Out" since the duck slippers are eligible for Shout to dance in.

Ms. Piccolo left the room singing the tune when the song concludes, expressing how much she enjoyed the Fresh Beats' super cool tapping and quacking performance. The scene shifts back to the park, where Reed grabs Shout's tap shoes from the tree with an extendo-arm. Shout then starts to dance with Marina's duck slipper and his tap shoe on each foot. The Fresh Beats then remove their tap dancing shoes, and Shout exclaims on how much fun it was to dance in shoes that quacked.
