Characters Present[]

Summary[]

The Fresh Beat Band is getting ready to perform at a Hawaiian Luau. After picking up their instruments from Reed, they start practicing. Marina starts to get worried when her hips start shaking and the rest of her body starts dancing without her in control of her own body. She tries to figure out how to control it, but it keeps happening every time she hears Hawaiian music. At the Luau, Melody explains to the group that Marina is dancing the hula, and that her body has a story to tell.

Plot[]

Twist is sitting on a chair in the park wearing sunglasses and drinking coconut water as if he's on the beach. Marina sees Twist and asks why he is doing beach-like activities at the park. Marina reminded Twist that since everyone is setting up for the luau occurring in the park later, they have to go so they can help out with it. Because of this reminder, Twist turns off the beach sounds on his boom box, and he and Shout are going to see Kiki and Shout. Marina sees two people passing by playing ukuleles, which prompts Marina to tell the viewer about how she loves Hawaiian music. Twist asked Marina to carry his boom box, and Marina's arm started to move around uncontrollably once she picked it up. When the two passerbys stopped playing their ukuleles, Marina's arm stopped moving, and Twist got the boom box from Marina. As Twist started to leave the park, Marina looked at her hands, wondering why they were moving out of control.

As Marina and Twist were traveling together towards their apartment, Twist ran very quickly to find Kiki and Shout. Twist unknowingly passed by Kiki and Shout and didn't even notice their presence until a few seconds later. The Fresh Beats say "aloha" to each other, meaning "hello" in Hawaiian. Shout and Kiki remind Twist and Marina that they have to get ready for the luau. So before getting ready, the Fresh Beats sing the song "Let's Dance Everyone."

Later, the Fresh Beats went inside their apartment to make leis for the luau. They poured out flowers from the baskets, and it didn't seem like there weren't enough flowers to make leis for everyone. So Twist opens another basket, and then lots of flowers come flying out of it. That ample amount of flowers formed into a huge pile, covering up Kiki, Shout, and Marina. Kiki, Shout, and Marina eventually came out of the flower pile, and before the Fresh Beats started to make leis, Kiki suggested that they get dressed in Hawaiian-style clothing to get in the mood. The Fresh Beats went into their rooms and got dressed in their Hawaiian-style clothing.

Kiki, Shout, and Marina come out of their rooms wondering where Twist was, and he comes out of the giant flower pile in his Hawaiian outfit, drinking coconut water. Since the Fresh Beats had to also make baskets and hats for the luau, Twist said that he has enough coconut leaves to make them. Marina worries about the fact that making baskets, hats, and leis is a lot of work to do. Shout then assures her that they will all work together to get the jobs done. Kiki concludes Shout's statement, saying that friends give friends a hand. The Fresh Beats work together to make baskets, hats, and leis while aptly singing an extended version of the song "Friends Give Friends A Hand."

After finishing making all of the baskets, hats, and leis, the Fresh Beats went over to the Good Note Music Store. At the store, Reed is seen playing a lap steel guitar. Reed eventually finishes playing his lap steel guitar, and the Fresh Beats inform him that they need Hawaiian instruments for the luau. As always, Reed had all the instruments the Fresh Beats needed. Kiki saw a ukulele and, understandably, decided to play it because of her experience playing the guitar. Shout decided to play the ʻulīʻulī rattle. Twist decided to play some "rocks" that he found. Reed corrected Twist, saying that those weren't rocks; they were 'ili'ili stones that tap together in order to make sound. Twist played the 'ili'ili stones and jokingly said that they "rock." Twist changed his mind and decided to play the pahu drum instead.

Marina still needed an instrument to play, and she tried to tell Reed which one she wanted. But as Twist, Kiki, and Shout started to play their Hawaiian instruments, Marina's hips started to shake beserkley and led her away from the Good Note Music Store. Twist, Kiki, and Shout stopped playing their Hawaiian instruments, and Marina walked back to the Good Note. Marina tries to say that she was trying to say that she wanted to play the drum. Twist, Kiki, and Shout started to play the Hawaiian instruments, and again, Marina's hips started to move crazily. Reed asks Marina what's going on, and she replies that she doesn't know. Marina also explains that in the park, her hands were unexpectedly moving, and now her hips were affected. She then makes the theory that her body was trying to tell her something.

Marina's dancing leads her towards Twist's direction, where he suggests that Marina's body was trying to tell her that she should play the pahu drum. Marina dances in Shout's direction, and he theorizes that Marina's body wants her to play the ʻulīʻulī rattle. Marina last dances over to Kiki, and she thinks that Marina's body is telling her to play the ukulele. Twist, Kiki, and Shout stopped playing their Hawaiian instruments, and Marina stopped dancing. Marina then reveals that she actually wants to play the ipu hand drum. Reed gives Marina the ipu hand drum, and Twist, Kiki, and Shout play the Hawaiian instruments again, and Marina dances off to the park while playing the ipu hand drum. Twist, Kiki, and Shout try their best to catch up with Marina and say "aloha" to Reed as they go off. Reed explains to the viewer that "aloha" means "hello" and "goodbye" in Hawaiian.

The Fresh Beats arrived at the luau in the park, and Marina's hips stopped moving. The Fresh Beats see Melody, and she expresses her excitement for hearing the Fresh Beats play Hawaiian music. Melody also says that she has smoothies for the Fresh Beats to drink, including Polynesian pineapple and cool coconut flavors. Melody then helped pass out the leis that the Fresh Beats made. The Fresh Beats were ready for the luau to commence, so they practiced playing their Hawaiian song. Marina's arms started to move again, and then her hands softly slapped Twist's face. Marina's arms then caused her to hug Kiki, and eventually her hands waved in front of Shout's face, causing Marina to arch over him. Marina's arms also waved in front of Kiki.

Since Marina couldn't play the ipu drum without moving out of control, Shout suggested that if he held the ipu drum for her, Marina could be able to play it more easily. Shout took the ipu drum away from Marina, and she attempted to play it while dancing. Shout even constantly switched from Marina's left and right while holding the drum since she kept dancing in different directions. That strategy didn't work and ended up being a chaotic process. Marina's dancing starts to get so berserk that she bumps Kiki and Shout away. Twist does avoid Marina's movements at first, but then Marina comes behind him and accidentally knocks him down with her dancing. Eventually, Marina stops dancing, and the other Fresh Beats start questioning Marina to see if it was okay to come near her. Marina seemed to be okay at the time.

Even though Marina couldn't play the ipu drum while dancing crazily, the other Fresh Beats didn't want to play at the luau without her. Twist then gets prompted with the idea to go to the yo-yo store to get a big, bouncy yo-yo and tie the ipu drum at the end of the string so that she could play it no matter what her hands were doing. Even though Marina agrees that it's a cool idea, she suggested that they figure out what her hips and hands were trying to tell her. Reed eventually makes it to the luau, hoping he didn't miss the Fresh Beats' performance. Kiki, Shout, and Twist explain that they were trying to practice for their performance, but every time they did, Marina started to move out of control. Kiki also tells Reed that they thought Marina's body was trying to tell her something, but they were unsure of what it was. Because Marina couldn't play music, she was unsure of what to do for the luau.

Marina starts to dance again after Twist, Kiki, and Shout start playing their Hawaiian instruments. Marina tries to stop herself from dancing, but fails to do so. Melody comes over and compliments Marina's hula dancing. Marina didn't know that she was hula dancing, and Melody told her that her body was telling a story. Marina and Shout wanted to know the story Marina's body was telling, so Melody told them that Marina's body was telling the story of coming to the park to be with friends and hula dancing. Shout comes to the conclusion that the reason Marina has been hula dancing every time she hears Hawaiian music is because her body is telling a story. Since Marina can hula dance very well, Kiki and Twist concluded that she can dance the hula at the luau.

It was time for the Fresh Beats' luau performance, where they sang the song "Rock the Luau" while dancing the hula. The luau ended, and everyone enjoyed the Fresh Beats' performance. Melody and Kiki complimented Marina's hula dancing and told her that she really rocked the luau. Twist, Kiki, Shout, and Reed played Hawaiian music again to see if Marina would start dancing, but to everyone's surprise, her hands and hips weren't moving anymore. Marina makes the suggestion that her hula hands and hula hips are gone because they have already told their story. Marina then plays a few beats on the ipu drum, this time without anyone holding it for her. She then closes the episode by saying, "ha'la maika'i," which, in Hawaiian, means, "What a great day."
